Joe Pelikan, husband of Rose, father of Britanee and Michael, and friend to many, was suddenly swept away from us on May 25, 2008. His abrupt passing due to a massive heart attack has left an emptiness within our hearts that is indescribable. It is something we will never get over and we will forever be changed because of it.
Joe had a rare gift of filling each day with life and laughter. He had an incredible talent for working hard and playing even harder; he loved us for whom we are and saw the future as an opportunity to enhance our lives and those around us. It is those memories of Joe that we hold on to because they somewhat lessen the heartache by keeping him alive in our hearts.
Cardiovascular disease is the number one cause of death in the United States. Although we have made some substantial strides in understanding the causes of cardiovascular disease, we have a long way to go to capture people's attention and to implement the prevention and treatment programs we need.
Please join us on Saturday, July 30th for the 4th Annual Joe Pelikan Memorial Kick Ball Tournament at Lac Lavon Park in Burnsville. All proceeds will be donated to the American Heart Association specifically designated for Joe Pelikan heart awareness. |
